Angry anyone with exhaust/steering coulmn skills help!!

I am putting mustang v6 headers on my 91 sc. the drivers side header is probablly less then 1/8" away from the steering column. I grinded the one side of the collector off just to be able to fit it in and bolt it up. IS THERE ANY WAY TO MOVE THE STEERING COLUMN AWAY FROM THE EXHAUST ALITTLE? And if so how far should I move it? I figure when you put it in gear and let out the clutch the engine rotates away from the steering column, but in reverse the engine will rotate twards it and I don't want the header smashing into the steering column.... argh help!

I don't think you can move the steering column at all. I really think that your best bet would be to heat the headers and carefully bend them until they fit. But why the Mustang headers? Why not get a pair of '97 V6 T-Bird headers? The collectors on the Mustangs have to be cut and turned to fit anyways, don't they?

The kooks headers are designed to fit around the shaft.
