why a Stall converter is good for you!

I was over browsing other V6 forums and came across a post where they were discussing 2800-3000rpm 9.5" stall converters and how much performance you can gain from them in a V6.

The car is a 97' mustang Singleport with a 4R70W and his mods are
4.10's+FMS T-lok,NX 75 shot,MAC CAI
ASP UD Crank Pulley,NOS Purge+ Bottle Heater,Flowmaster Duals
Jerry Chip,Shift kit,24lb Injectors,RGR stage 3 lower,Gaston Stage 3 upper,BBK 65mm TB,PI 3000 Stall,FMS Aluminum DS .

BOTH of these runs are Natuarally asperated.

He ran this Time with the STOCK converter.

Then AFTER installing the 3000rpm PI converter with NO other mods

Thats a gain of .64 seconds and 1.58mph from JUST a stall converter.
.28 seconds off the 60ft. says it all, that just like dropping almost full second off your 0-60 times.

He is running STOCK heads and a STOCK cam, With ported heads and a cam the gains would be BIGGER.

Gains have been seen from .6-.9 seconds on V6 stangs and should be about the same for our cars.

the race is over after that 60' mark, once you can get a good 60' time that translates into a great 1/4 time. gears and a tc will do wonders for both!!! anyway i agree get a high stall tc, and when you start spinning, get some sticky tires to plant that hp.

yea, thats one of future mods. im not gonna try and squeeze as much out of the 3.8 as you rancher.. im gonna cheat and get a 5.0 or 4.6 most likely sometime down the road. but i do want a little more out of my car. i am going to get 96/97 3.8 headers, underdrives, shift kit, the tc, and maybe a new rear end (mk8 w/ 3.55 traklok). i think with all that i can beat a few more cars on the road untill i graduate from college and get a good job where the v8 option with a t-45 (or maybe a t-46, just for originality). i already have a custom dual exhaust with no cats. -greg
