Question Cooling System Upgrade

The radiator on my 96LX has developed a crack and is leaking. Since I have to replace the radiator anyway, I might as well redo the entire cooling system. Here is what I plan to do:

Radiator - Purchase stock replacement from www.radiator.com for $137
Upper and lower radiator hose - Goodyear Super Hi-Miler (blue)
Thermostat - Stock from 5-Star Ford
Transmission Cooler - B&M

Any other ideas of what I should replace or upgrade? Am I going down the right path?

Sounds good to me. The only other thing that I can think of is the water pump, but depending on your mileage you probably don't have to worry about that yet. Where are you getting the hoses? I'd like to see what they look like.

well i got my hoses from discount auto, and they are pretty good hoses, the only problem i had was with the lower hose were it goes connected under the water pump outlet it was very tight but i guess thats better for the pressure. One question my water pump is making this whinning sound before only when the car was cold but now it does it more often. Should i replace it or wait until it takes a crap on me? My water pump has 106,000 miles never been replaced.

What do you think?

You say it's whining and you have 106K miles on it? I don't think I want to be stuck anywhere. There's a holiday coming up, change it!

Water Pump Too!!

This is what the Goodyear Hi-Miler hoses look like:

Made from special EPDM rubber, Super Hi-Miler hoses last 5 to 10 times longer than regular hoses. A Nomex reinforcing sleeve gives the hose a burst rating 10 times stronger than rayon-reinforced hose.

I need to add a water pump to my list. What is the best brand?

Honestly, I've never really had to look into one....didn't hold on to a car long enough to need replacing! I'm not sure if a Ford replacement is any better than one you can get from a parts store. Maybe someone who has replaced theirs can post how they made out.
Hoses look nice. I just replaced mine over the summer so I won't need them for a while. Is there a link to check them out? They have them for all cars?
