2001 Mustang 3.8 in my bird?

A friend of my dad wrecked his 2001 Mustang Convertible 3.8. It's most likely totaled and I'll have the chance to buy it. This would be the splitport engine right?

Also what size rearend would be in this car? 8.8 or 7.5?

Yes, it has the splitport.

I wouldn't even bother with the rearend.

You'll have to do some rewiring/repinning, but I couldn't tell you what would need redone.

IIRC, the necessary repinning of the transmission is located in the J-mod tech article. I believe that is where I pulled it from when I did the swap.

Thanks. I've been debating on whether or not to put an engine in the car or just drive it until it dies. The engine and tranny in my V6 have over 200k on them and neither are in their best shape although they are still chugging along.

Yeah you'll have to repin the harness according to according to these instructions and you'll have to use your TCC solenoid as the later year ones won't work.
