volt meter crazy-

ok i just replaced the alt in my 93 3.8.. because of a voltage problem when i would rev engine.. ( bat light would come on ) it stopped until the other day... now it's back but was difffernt, the bat light would just stay down and no response from volt meter.. so i bought a new voltage regulator.. now i'm back to whre i was from teh beginning, car seems like it's running fine, but when i rev engine.. the volt meter skyrockets.. so i dont know what to do .. maybe the belt? :-/ chime in asap please.

Did you check the wiring to the alt? No shorts? Also was the battery fully charged before you replaced the alt and fired it up? You can take one out with a weak battery.

do you have access to a volt meter/multimeter? I would like to see the voltage on the battery, car not running, seems like it could be a problem with the battery since its so new, bad cell or something.
