Clicking noise right front computer engine bay

My friend has a 97 with a 3.8. when he hooks up his battery, something makes a clicking noise. what could this be?

It could be a relay. There is alot of stuff it could be.

Does his car have an alarm in it? When I hook up the battery to my car it clicks because the lights are flashing on and off due to the alarm that is installed.

Sounds like the CCRM (Constant Control Relay Module). It's a box of relays sitting in between the air cleaner and the passenger headlight. It's probably gone south.
