2003 Explorer Solenoid pack, PN check, please.

I have a 2003 XLT V8 AWD, which I believe has the 5R55W. I ran across a pack PN 9L2Z-7G391-A locally, the guy tells me this PN replaced 4L2Z-7G391-AA and 1L2Z-7G391-AE. Is this correct?

i show that you should be using the 1l2z-7g391-ag for 2003, but if you give me the last 8 digits of the vin, i can confirm that.

1L2Z*7G391*AG is the correct part. retail is $416.27. tccoa price is $224.78.

Now that these glorified pinto transmissions are getting older and 'worn out' I can give a nice pointer on how to fix 'em.

Throw the valve body into the dumpster then buy a new one complete with a solenoid pack.

The solenoid packs wear quicker than the valves, but the same oscillations that wear the pack wears out the valve body. Replacing only the pack usually fixes the problem temporarily until the foaming caused by worn valve bores gets too severe.

Also use the anti-wear additive Ford patched this problem with.
