Well the Transmission finally blew up last night... Have questions for the experts
So its time to upgrade!!!
Now i have a few questions for you transmission guru's!!
I own a 94 t-bird LX with the 4.6L and im assuming it has the old AODE. I do drive the car hard and im pretty sure my one way clutch blew up as when it went for the 1-2 shift last night it just went bang and reved up. I let off and it engaged 3rd gear after a few seconds and then when i was cruising along at 50mph it just went back into second by itself and that was it. I only have 2nd gear now. first, third, and OD just rev up like in neutral. And when you put it into reverse it feels like the transmission is fighting itself like a trans brake!! hehe And when you put it in neutral the car is still locked, i cant even roll it. So i would say she is DONE!
Now i would like to upgrade to the 4r70w and i was reading all the articles about doing the swap and it looks fairly easy. And i know alot of you on this site have done this swap. Is it really that easy?? I want to upgrade the torque convertor to a bit of a higher stall anyways so thats no big deal but correct me if im wrong but is it only the gear selector sensor, re-arranging the pins in the main connector, and changing the size of the yoke the only things i will need to change to make it work??
