thing i found in my tranny pan?

i was changing out the pan gasket on the tranny and when i got the pan down i found this yellow plug looking thing. looked like it should be in the valve body or something. i couldnt figure out where it went? any ideas lemme take a pic of it. mushroom tipped and skinny shaft. rubber seal around the tip area

It's a plug to seal where the dipstick tube goes. It helped keep the internals sealed on the assembly line and was pushed into the pan area once the dipstick tube was inserted. You can throw it away. It's presence probably means that the tranny has never been serviced.

This comes up in every forum dealing with transmissions.



Put three back in my 2000 CVPI on it's last service before I turned it in for a new '06 CVPI in June 2006. Guy should have found them by now?
