How do you make the Gasket Holes?

I'm doing a jmod on a 2001 and might need to open up the separator gasket holes, how do you do this? A drill?

Though I'm not quite sure where you would need to do this, it's only paper, so how about a paper punch? It would be a lot neater than a drill on paper! When you drill the metal plates themselves, just be neat about it and de-burr the holes. Simple biscuit!

first of all I'll be darned surprised if you need to do much of anything whatsoever in a 2001 VB - keep in mind that Jerry - as in J - as in JMOD - retired about the time this Tranny was finally fixed in 2000 - SO... make sure you have the right gaskets & IMO you need to look at http://www.sonnax.com/index.php & fix all the **** they screwed up in the post 2000 VB's

I've already drilled out the separator plate and haven't checked the gasket yet so I don't know for sure if they need to be enlarger.

I don't think I'll find a hole punch that small and I thought about the drill but don't think it will cut the paper smoothly.

There has to be a way...!

Well, I think you're going to find that anything you drilled on those plates, the corresponding hole on the paper gaskets are going to be bigger, already. If you find differently, please let us know! And if a paper punch is too big, use a sharp X-acto knife.

Out of curiosity, what did you drill on the seperator plates of the 2001 valve body? From what I can see, are you talking about holes 4 & 5 on the j-mod? I have an old valve body/gaskets here and you've got me interested.

Leather punches are great for making holes in gaskets.

IIRC I had to enlarge 2 holes total on the gasket when I built my trans, and I used the highest settings

Got the gasket and all the holes in it are a little over sized so I didn't need to drill it out. The plate had 5 or 6 holes that I still need to drill out.
