2001 mustang swap speedo gear

Can I just take the whole speedometer assembly out of my T-bird and put it into the Mustang tranny?

If you are talking about the speed sensor, then yes you can, but not without first changing the gear to the 21-tooth purple one (if you still have your stock 3.27s).
