Unhappy tranny slipping?

lately my 4r70w trannys been slipping every once and a while, if im at a constant speed (ex. 60mph) the rpms will jump up and im not going faster. I checked the fluid and it appears to still be red and smells fine. do you guys think i should just give a fluid/filter change? but i heard that can make matters worse.

if you got any ideas i would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

it is old and tired and the overdrive is slipping. The 94's weren't that good anyway. You can try an MLPS you will need a new one either way. Chances are it's days are numbered.
