Removal of Mass Damper

MN12s have a mass damper which attaches near the tailstock on the 4R70W. I left it off the last time I put the trans back in the car, because it weighs about 5 lbs, and because I've changed trans mount bushings, driveshaft, and other parts which affect system stiffness so I figured it was no longer functioning to design intent. I do have a driveline vibration at about 120 mph, but that has been there since before removing the mass damper. Are there likely to be any bad consequences from leaving this part off?

Those dampers weren't even installed on most MN12s until 96 or 97. You should be fine without it

When RobertP and I dropped my transmission for the torque converter install, we took mine off. It felt like the weight was full of sand or something. I have not noticed a difference in NVH. Then again, I can't feel anything else over my craptastically balanced MKVIII drive shaft.
