Sealing plug from the factory used to plug up the dipstick tube hole during assembly. Toss it.

It's the Oh $#!+ plug. It you don't know what it is, you see it and think oh $#!+, what did I break in my transmission. On the hand, if you do know what it is, and you drop a pan on a 100k mile trans and see it still there, you also think oh $#!+ cause you know the pan has never been dropped before.

4R70W forum - what is this in my pan?
3.8 forum - overheating?
4.6 forum - smoke out the tail pipe taking off from a stop light
4.6 forum - big coolant leak in the front of the engine
EEC - OBDI or II?
suspension - rattling in the front end?
brakes - can't get rear caliper to compress
video - anyone ever seen this 50s merc....

There are quite a few topic subjects that you get a very good idea about what the post will contain.

It was still in my pan in my Mark VIII at 111k miles. But carfax shows at least on fluid replacement service has been done on it, so I am not as troubled by it.
