my '94 t bird has 106,000 on it. If I plan to keep the car I should prolly make the transmission last as long as possible. So I was going to do the jmod and a trans cooler, but since the transmission is probably from '94 should I just do nothing until it needs a transmission and put a better (newer) trans in with same mods?
The J-mod and a cooler will help you get the most out of it for sure. I'd go ahead and do the mod/cooler now - and start saving up for a 99+ swap down the road. The transmission in the Cougar I J-modded about 30,000 miles ago and it's been reliable since I've had it; granted it's a 3.8 and only has 144,500 on it now. I think the transmission may actually outlive the car...
