weird shifting

question. when im getting on the car say doing a burnout and I have the gear shifter in 1st it will shift into 2nd on its own while I still have it in first. what could this be?

1997 Thunderbird 4.6L

It's normal on a 97 model and any 96 that had the reflash also did this, if u get the car tuned that will go away

Yep, that's the way the PCM is programmed. It can be fixed in a tune.

I got a tune a while ago from Don after I got the car back from rob for the head swap. its been doing this since the car was stock. Should I mention this to him? Its been so long since i got the tune I might have to pay again.

I haven't been on a dyno yet to get a HP reading. Need to go . I'll email Don today and see what he says thanks for the input

called pro dyno they said 350 for the tune and all the dyno time. will be going there by the end of the month

Change of plans with the tune. Found a set of kook headers for the mn122 for 388 shipped so I'm going to wait for the tune till I get them and some new gears installed
