highway slip (?)

At the speed of 45 and 55 after running for 20-30 mins it will down shift out of 4th and bring the rmps up only about by 300 then will shift back into 4th.. on level road. I replaced the filter and fluid today and threw a qt of lucas in for added security, still slips.. no clue. Any good shops in nc? Preferably near Jacksonville?

MLPS = Manual Lever Position Sensor aka Neutral safety switch.

Do a search, it's been covered. The switch has been updated because of problems with the earlier models. Check out post 11 in this thread and it gives you a good idea on how it works.

I've noticed that keeping my hand on the shifter while I drive in my tbird will cause this; I think it's a slight misadjustment, and the normal slop in the cable.

It doesn't do it if I leave the shifter alone, lol.
