I don't know if it's aging BADLY; at almost 250,000 miles on it, I expect it to be some what creaky and gripey
All the connectors I have are crumbling when I touch them; being able to replace them has a 'comforting feel."
Of course, the later ones don't have wires or connector tabs to bend, so that's another plus.
All of my trannys are 02 now.
Gran Marquis and non-police Crown Vics are better sources for trannys; mustangs get beat on, luxobarges do not, lol.
IDK the equivalent non-beaten on car for the SBF pattern, but I'm sure there is one.
I found that modding the cable that disconnects behind the engine, that has the tranny wiring and rear o2 sensors, is the best way to repin it; you can have it out on the table while you try to figure out where pin one is, lol.
I bought one here, and modded it, so it was a plug in swap I handed off to a shop. "Change this, swap this cable."
And if you don't seal the extra holes, it will freak out in wet weather, so be sure to add silicone to seal them, and then fill the connectors with dielectric grease.
Do that; it's harder later, lol.
BTW, I've had a shop give me a discount, for showing them the "Drop the diff and slide the DS back", Tip to make swapping the tranny easy. That saves hours over the book method of dropping the tank, lol.
