Removal of the manual shift lever

Im having a hard time removing the manual shift lever from my 4r70w.

I have removed the roll pin from the transmission case, and it will slide out partially. I have removed the nut from the end. Is there a spring detent in the roll pin hole or some other retaining pin of sorts that will keep me from completely removing it?

I am trying to swap over a Lokar seletor shaft as per the directions in this article.

Do I just neet to pry harder or use some kind of slide hammer to remove it?

Hmm, should pull right out with the roll pin and nut removed, There's no detents or anything else I recall.

Could it be that the seal may have bound up on the lever or caused it to gall somehow? This is from a 2001 Grand Marquis.

The seal is hard; you want to replace it.

It will come out; use a slide hammer if you have to.

Assuming, of course that you've removed the bolt and rooster comb, lol; you never know these days.
