96 TB speed sensor question

96 T-Bird with upgraded 17" tires but sill with stock 18 tooth speedometer driven gear. Seems to be reading 1.5 mph low. Pulled current driven gear and it is colored putty or tan with 18 gear teeth. Can anyone tell me which driven gear i will need to correct the problem? Color I should buy and # of teeth?

Thanks,
Al

However, You will find the gear teeth are on the order of 5mph, so you are probably as close as you are going to get.

I look at the rotations per mile of tires I buy, and buy accordingly.

Our stock cars have a 7 tooth transmission drive gear, and a 3.27 rear diff ratio.

A 2002 4r70W has an 8 tooth drive gear. I think it's 1999 and up, but I'm not sure.

17” “tires” provides zero information to us as to what gear you would need, but 1.5mph off? That’s actually very accurate.
