4r70w rebuild kit/ who to go with and...

what company to go with and any ideas for additional parts.
Lost 4th gear and don't want this to happen again so I'm looking to put in a good rebuild kit. I'm just guessing the OD band went it's got 112000 miles on it. I took it out the other day and was gonna start getting the prep work done for my engine install, but after being stored for the winter months then taking it on a beat run it just said see ya. I hooked up a snap on scanner and watched the functions it was holding gears longer but when it went into 4th it was just revving. If I dropped into N then D it would drop gears then take off but nothing over say 45 mph. Also I had no readings from the TC (could just be the scanner). One other thing I had a PCM failure a few months back and replaced the computer and now have that code again. As soon as I pull the chip out the code clears and stays cleared(don't know if that's related). The TCC is the other thing on my mind but I'm no tranny specialist. Any test I can do or am I correct in thinking my OD band gone.

Thanks N8!

sure sounds like an OD band failure. Just dont let anyone talk you into the Kevlar ones, they make a lot of heat in the transmission. Stock material is fine.

96 Mustang GT 5spd. w/ 248A Option (GTS). Stock for now until I get the Roush on.

97 Thunderbird 4.6L LX /w Sport Package
24k B&M Cooler, 1" lowered, Steeda UD Pulleys, Dynomax cat-back, J-mod, 3.73's, PI intake, PI cams, 03 GT MAF/Tube, SCT tuned - Gone but not forgotten.
