AOD with 4R70W gearset
I am looking at putting the 4R70W internals into an AOD case. This appears to be a popular upgrade - I believe it can be done without using a transmi$$ion shop.
What I have:
AOD from 1988 Mustang (blown front seal - clutches toast)
4R70W from a rolled 1996 Explorer (cheap!!)
(This is for a 91 Sport with a 302)
What I don't know is what do I have to keep from the AOD?
Case - The Explorer had a 5.0 (no, I didn't get the intake, TB, or heads)
Valve body - the Explorer one is electronic.
What I would like is a relatively inexpensive, improved AOD.
I've seen several references to this particular build-up, but nothing really specific about which parts to retain. (I have read the Tech articles, and been over to SCCoA, and numerous other sites). As far as I can tell - I'll figure it out once they are apart, but I could REALLY use a headstart!!!
