4R70W Pan

I am in the process of swapping my pan out for a new one (the previous owner must have hit something as the pan has a few dents). I need to swap the magnet from the old pan to the new. I noticed that the magnet had what appears to be a thick coating of grease. Is this an added measure to capture non-ferrous metals or just crap the magnet picked up over time?

Thanks

Nope... That's the stuff that it has attracted over the miles... Clean it off and slap it in the new pan.
