Which seal do you mean? There's the pan gasket, the front pump seal and the tailshaft seal.

2007 Ford Mustang GT Premium - SOLD March 2014.
2013 Ford Taurus SHO (TUXESHO) Tuxedo Black Bone stock for now.

#1- Pan Gasket- No

#2- Front Pump Seal- Yes

#3- Tail seal- No

Trans. pan could take an hour or so, from start to finish.

Front Pump- how fast can you drop the entire trans?

Tail seal- You need to pull the driveshaft out to do this one, but I *think* you can leave the trans. in the car. Prob. 2 hours (incl. driveshaft removal/reinstall)

Just my .02

Jay

These are highly engineered precision vehicles, the first step in diagnosing the problem is to strike the suspected offending part sharply and repeatedly with a blunt object, then re-test.

Yes, sorry you're looking at a complete dissasembly of the innards to do this repair. There are piston seals on the clutch pistons of all the clutch packs, and the seals of the low/reverse piston have probably failed. Soooo, might as well rebuild the whole trans since you're in it that far. John

Exactly. Unfortunately there is no magic in a can that will repair a transmission.
My advice, buy a cheap beater until you can afford the transmission. I see cars at the local auction for $300-$500 that would do the job every single week.
