4r70w slip in first, but not in manual first

I have the momentary slip in first problem. When the trans was toredown,
the rear bushing in the stator support had spun and the #2 thrust washer
was missing. Stator support and forward drum were replaced, and cooler
was flushed. The trans still has slip in first, but not in manual first. When I
pulled it and rechecked the support and seals, nothing looks wrong.
What have I overlooked or missed?

never heard of somthing like this. The reverse band applies in manaul 1st I believe - but that shouldn't effect anything really. Might check your Presure taps in Forward gear.

I have checked line and forward clutch pressures. line
65 psi @ idle and rises properly with throttle. In OD
forward clutch is 65 psi @ idle, Momentary drop to
almost zero then normal rise as throttle is opened.
In manual low 65 psi @ idle with proper rise. Both
forward and reverse hold air pressure when tested
on the bench.

In manual first, the low reverse band is applied, but it's not in "drive" first. Please note this is not the reverse clutch.

Causes range from the #6 shuttle ball, loose valve body bolts, damaged valve body gasket, low reverse servo seals (piston and cover), LRS retaining ring, or the anchor pins (part of case).

The more I look at this, it seems it is some kind of
valve body strangeness. problem only seems to
occur after warmup. I was told to find a salvage
unit and install it. I still have the old unit, they
didn't want a core. I should have known that
this was trouble when the front pump bolt holes
needed helicoiling. Acts like it was assembled it
with an impact.
