Im not new to thunderbirds but i am new to the sc. I have a 94 sc with a 4r70w. the question i have is will the 4r70w from a mustang fit my 3.8 sc? the problem im having is the car has 138k on it and the tranny slipps and vibrates between shifts. i wanted to put a 5 speed in it but right now i dont have the time nor the money to do it. plus i cant find a 5 speed tranny for sale around me so i want to put the original trans back in it. so will it work?

You will have to use a transmission from a 3.8 Mustang and you will have to swap the manual lever. If the transmission comes from a Mustang newer than a 97 then you will need to repin the wiring harness on your car or change the electronics inside the transmission.

You will also have to change the speedometer gear to account for an 8 tooth output shaft that comes in the Mustang transmissions instead of the 7 tooth that is in an MN12

You could also use a transmission from a 5 liter Explorer that has 2 wheel drive. All of the above apply there as well.

You need to use the MLPS (neutral safety switch as parts places like to call it) for your car however you go.
