'99 4R70W shift kit/no brainer style!

I have a '99 Mustang and would like to do a shift kit as the tuner rising the prssure is not the best way to go and I remember much better shifts done years back to a turbo 400 tranny to ehere the car would jump a car length when it shifted from 1 to 2 gear. Does a shift kit with this tranny result in results like this or is the SCT tuner shift point ptressure increase good enough/close to the shift kit? Alan was going to set me up with a J-mod kit but I read it could take 6-7 hours to do and being disabled I do not think I want to get into that. Is there a no brainer kti with much of the work already done? Several surgeries have made working on the car difficult and mechanics charge too much for me. Thanks, mark

turn in your license

no offense, but if you are really on all those meds, you should not have a drivers license or a car . and your doc should be reported for overprescribing drugs which should not be taken together...IE methadone at the same time as any of the opiates.

not really, the j-mod is the easiest and most straight foward. the EPC that comes with the Trans go is a very bad thing....

im not sure what kind of doctors you have, but i would seriously get a second opinion and attend pain management...

Im having a real hard time believing you take methadone and morphine at the same time......unless someone dropped 10,000 pound car on you....you "shouldn't" need that much pain killers. Unless you were an addict before and are opiate tolerant.
Just get a fentanyl patch if you are seriously taking all of those meds...

The dexadrine with the others should kill you...

Up and down at the same time...what a ride...

Who's your doctor?

EDIT: I didn't feel good about sounding this critical...I'm old enough to remember people doing this many drugs for kicks; It's all fun and games till someone dies...

I'm glad to see you're trying; a lot of people in your situation would be a lot worse off.

Good luck; If I were closer, I'd try to help.

Thanks Doc! A pain clinic prescribes the narcotics. I have had 3 back surgeries. The second thy went in from the front and back and replaced 2 discs wih cadaver bones and screws. Did not help the pain so I had an experimental pump embedded in my abdomen with a cathater leading directly to my spine/brain. Recently had the pump raised from 12.5mgs./day of morphne to 20mgs./day. Have gone 5 days without the methadone so I am down to the pump and the Dilaudid. the reason for the pump was to get me off oral meds. Believe me I drive very little and always ask whoever is with me to drive the car. Pain clinics are monitored very closely in New york and I am well within accepted doses considering what my back has been through. I appreciate your concern. Amphetamines are to keep me awake and alert while driving. Others to ensure I get a good night's sleep.
Now how about some info on a simple shift kit mod?
Thanks, mark
PS: I have only had 2 trips over 75 miles in going on 7 years, a 100 mile and last year a 200 mile trip.

Of course I am opioid tolerant. I am way down now that the pump has been raised as they had to find stronger concentrations of the morphine out of state. I had been at 12.5mgs a day for over a year. Remeember the Morphine is very little but administered directly to the spine/brain so I am not using much at all and that is the point of the pump. I was at 9 ten MG tabs of methadone a day and 30mgs. of IR oxycodone before the pump and now this is my 5th day without methadone, Praise the Lord.
Fentenayl is very strong and it is administered with a patch slowly like the pump. Now all I take orally is up to 14 tabs of 4mg. tabs of Dilaudid.
My problem is after 10 minutes working on the car I ned to lie down and I cannot afford to send it out so I work a couple of bolts per day.
I appreciate averyones concern but you obviously have not dealt with chronic pain as I have as my date of injury is 4/21/91. Had a laminectomy on 2/19/92. Still had something wrong and in '96 they found that L4-L5 had a small herniation but by 2000 it had become large and the original disc(what was left) had become a black line on the x-ray sheet. I hesitated a few months as the thoyght of the docs going in from the back and front was a bit usettling. It was a 6-7 hour surgery. I may still be allowed to have the pump raised another 5mgs./day to lower oral narcs even lower. There are people there who are prescribed 18 ten mg. tabs of Methadone a day! I read the J-mods and I do not get it fully. I understand the drilling/enlarging holes and emoving a check ball but the spring thing is waht I am not comfortable with. I would like to get one of Alan's 3800 stall 10" converters but need to find the guy, Lonnie, who does the SCT tranny mod for locking in 2nd gear because I am not sure if locks in 2nd only at WOT or when ever it is on 2nd?
Darrin sells completed valve bodies or I could get a kit from Alan but it would ned to be for the '99 tranny as the write ups go to about '96, maybe '97. So I need some guidance with these things, not my disability. Thanks huys

The chip is much easier to install and it will give you other gains as well. But the jmod/chip tranny line pressure increase may bother your back from all of the jerking around.

wow, well I feel 1/4 of your pain.
I had a bulging disc, almost herniated not too long ago.
How did you even walk?!
I could barely drive with just a bulging disc and zero pain killers.

Well....ask some of the guys in your State's chapter to help you out!
I'm sure most of them would love to help out a fellow member.

Guys I appreciate the concern. I never drive the car if anyone is with me, I have them drive. I have been through an ordeal I would not like anyone to experience but on the other hand I am blessed and many are more worse off and my Faith upholds me. I have the SCT tune and it is OK. Shifts better but not like a mechanical deal would. I'll pass on it as far as doing it myself. Mark
