complete new pumpkins

I need to upgrade gears and add posi diff in my 98 mark VIII. Are there are new or rebuilt pumpkins with gears & diff already installed available? I'm thinking this would save on labor cause I could do the swap myself. I need 3.73 with 28 spline diff... torsen would be preferred.

The local Ford dealer does not have it. If anyone has this setup or knows where to get them I would appreciate any info. Thanks, Brian

people sell used ones here all the time, usually trak-loc though, not very many torsens

You might try Corral. It's a Rustang site, but I've trolled their classifieds and picked up a few good deals. I bought a brand T-2 Torsen differential a while back and a later on a new 3.55 ring and pinion set. Both were reasonable. Guys with Cobras will sometimes covert to a live axle and sell the IRS stuff. Keep in mind only the differentials are swappable with a MKVIII - not half-shafts or control arms. Also be careful... Cobra differentials come in 2 flavors: 28 spline axle and 31 spline axle.

Corral Classifieds It's the 6th listing: Drivetrain Parts

If you can't find anything, drop me a PM... I just picked up another MKVIII aluminum case differential yesterday locally. Plan to stuff the above into it, then just swap the carriers. They said they had one more available. Shipped would be about $150.00 for the complete differential from them to you. It's a 3.07 open, but you'd have an extra case to start with. Then shop around here, Corral, and SCCOA to find a ring & pinion and a differential.

Best of Luck!
That is all...

Experience is simply knowing what not to do... and knowing what won't work.
The Car... 324,201 and still goin' strong; Me... I'm NOT a complete idiot - still missing a few parts.

There are a few guys on here that will build you a rear. Don AKA "Teeps" built for me what your looking for (only with 4.10s), you should be able to find his thread in the for sale section. Not sure if he is still active.

You should be able to do a straight pumpkin swap in a couple hours.
