IRS 3.73 trak loc preload

When measuring the pinion preload is this done with the pinion in the case with out the traction lock pumkin?
Is 25 in pounds good for the pinion preload?

I usually set them at 18 in-lbs but 25 shouldn't matter.

25 is on the high side, but with new bearings it is ok. Badshoe makes a video about these that is worth having. I bought on years ago. I wish I could find the worksheet for when I get these aftermarket gears with pinion measurements.
I prefer OEM gears because I have a rotunda pinion depth gauge.
