Looking at the Tch articles diff specs ??

so im looking through the chart here


And according to it i need to find a car with the W code??

Do our cars come with that ??

What about the K/R

or is th only option for us to scavenge the E/XE or whatever is in em?

There should be some sort of interchange sticky since thats 90% of the questions I see on here!!

The only gears our cars came with were 2.73, 3.08, 3.27, or 3.31. SCs all got a trak-lok. Some V6 and V8s also got trak-lok, but most were open. 5-speed SCs got the 2.73s, V6NAs got 3.27s, but be careful cause many V6s also got the weaker 7.5" diff instead of an 8.8. V8s got either 3.27s or 3.08s. Auto SCs got 3.27s in 89-93 and 3.31s in 94/95. MarkVIIIs got an aluminum center section, which weighs less, but all MarkVIII's got an open diff. In the MarkVIII, base ones got a 3.07 gear and LSCs got 3.27s.

So basically if you want to upgrade, you need to rebuild the diff. 3.73s can be found used on ebay all the time for less than $100. The 5-speed diffs are usually dirt cheap, so they are a good source for an IRS TL unit (can't use the mustang solid axle diffs in our IRS). Replace the clutches if needed, gears from ebay, and an install kit, and if you rebuild it yourself, you can have a rebuilt diff with upgraded gears for less than $250.
