How much money are you paying for used gears? I know ebay sells brand new Ford gears for $100.00 or so. Might as well go new so you know it will work right the first time. Just my .02 cents.

$130-$140 for new FRPP in box off ebay, comes with crush sleeve and pinion nut. You'll have less problems. Trying used gears without knowing what you're doing is asking for trouble later on. If you have to go with the used R&P, then at least get new bearings, a new crush sleeve, pinion nut, carrier and pinion shims, and have fun setting that up.

Needs more stall.

I like used gears

I buy them when I can.....

When buying a set of used gears, make sure that on the pinion, there is no bearing race left on before you go try pressing a new bearing on.

Nick......................I'm back!!!
May you fly low and fast
rest in peace JL

You'd be fine in that area, but for someone who's never done it before, or isn't sure what to look for, they would probably be better off with a new set for now.
