Differential Drain Plug Removal?

The drain plug is heavily rusted and seized up. The square drive hole (in the plug) is twisting when I attempt to turn the plug.

I hit the plug with PB Blaster, but that doesn't appear to help. I'm assuming the plug won't come out, and I'll need to replace the cover.

Safe assumption??

Possibly. Then again, you may be able to pull the cover, heat the cover, freeze the plug, and pull it that way.

OTGH, grab another cover from the boneyard after verifying the plug comes out, and use that.

I may try the heating / freezing approach, but I should still have another cover (as back up).

Thanks!!
