Mark viii diff specs

Hi guys I'm putting together an alum 3.73 trac-lok dif for my cat and I'm wondering if any body has a mark viii manual and can tell me the bearing preload and bearing cap torque specs. I can't find anywhere if they're different from the iron case specs or not and would rather not buy a Mark viii manual just for that if I can avoid it. Thanks in advance Mike

I looked up a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII differential specifications in Alldata and other vehicles and they all seem to be the same. There does NOT seem to be any specifics to the aluminum case.

The numbers are as follows:

Ford Traction Lok 8.8":
Backlash Between Ring Gear and Pinion Teeth = 0.203-0.330mm (0.008-0.013")
Maximum Backlash Variation Between Teeth = 0.1016mm (0.004")

Ford 8.8":
Maximum Runout of Backface of Ring Gear = 0.0762mm (0.003")
Maximum Axle Shaft Endplay = 0.762mm (0.030")
Differential Side Gear Thrust Washer Thickness = 0.762-0.812mm (0.030-0.032")
Differential Pinion Gear Thrust Washer Thickness = 0.762-0.812mm (0.030-0.032")
Maximum Differential Case Runout = 0.0762mm (0.003")
Nominal Differential Bearing Pre-Load Adjustment Shim = 6.75mm (0.265")
Backlash Between Ring Gear and Pinion Teeth = 0.203-0.330mm (0.008-0.013")
Maximum Backlash Variation Between Teeth = 0.1016mm (0.004")
Maximum Radial Runout of Companion Flange in Assembly = 0.25mm TIR (0.010" TIR)
Available Pinion Gear Shims in Steps of:
0.0254mm (0.001") = 0.254-0.965mm (0.010-0.038")
224mm (8.8 inches)

Thanks for the info. Did you notice if the torque on the bearing caps is also the same? Thanks Mike

Just to follow up on this I got a Mark VIII manual and the bearing caps are the same torque but where the preload on the iron case is an additional .004 shim on each side the alum case has total of .014 preload and it's set up a little differently. Mike
