Mark 8 rear swap

Ok so the rear went in my rear today i have a 91 cougar xr7 5.0l. My buddy works in a junk yard and has a 95 mark 8 center section for $150 is this a direct bolt in unit? Ive done some searching but to be honest i have 1 day to get the part and swap it. So i kinda need to go grab this an hour ago if it swaps over.
thanks

Grab the VSS out of the transmission also, unless you're certain they're both 3.07/3.08 ratios.

Past that (which is not Mark VIII / Cougar, but is 3.08 / Whatever ratio) (the stock on a XR7 was 3.08, the Mark VIII is either 3.07/3.08 or is 3.27 if it's a LSC) it's a drop and go.

You WILL lose the trac loc in the XR7 currently, though.

I ask why the swap? Same ratio, no trac lock (or if you're lucky, from 3.08 to 3.27 - just about a nothing change), so ...

(Grab it and rebuild it with a trac loc is what you ought to consider doing - that aluminum pumpkin is enough lighter it makes it easier to do one yourself. That iron pumpkin? Too easy to drop and bust the pinion seal on ... guess how I know )

If moving from the 3.73 to the 3.08/3.27, be sure to get the VSS out of the transmission! Even if the VSS itself won't swap, the gear will ... and will keep your speedo right.

What's wrong with the 3.73? Just asking.

Are you just getting it for the aluminium case? The 3.73s and Trac Lok are much more advantageous than a 15lb weight loss.

I'll emphasize again - grab the VSS out of the transmission to get the gear!
