Factory Trac-Lock

Perhaps I should have searched this more but I cannot find a concrete answer. I was reading through one of the stickeys and it mentioned the 3.27 gears having a factory trac-lock assembly. I could have sworn I did not have one, but I could be mistaken. Can anyone shed some light on this issue? It would just be nice to know so I dont end up spending the money on one I dont need. The car is a 97lx model, 4.6L. Thanks in advance!

Dan,

Check the axle code on the door jam sticker. Do a search, there's a breakdown of the codes for the model years and what the codes are.

Moved to Differential Forum.

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

Thank you for the link, Joe. I took a peek at it. I have a W5 axle code. In the "lock" column it says "E/XE".....what on earth does that mean? lol

It means that a locking diff with 3.27 gears would have the axle code of E or XE.

So yours is an open diff, not a locking diff.

W5 is an open 3.27 differential.

That's what that table thingy said. All the sticker in my door said was "w5."
