Will this rear cover fit my 93 Cougar?

Hey,I read through the threads, verified visually that I have a 10 bolt 8.8 rear diff ,Axel Code "Z" on the door jamb (3.08 gears).
I am picking up a nice set of 3.73 gears this coming weekend and would like to replace the diff cover with a nice chrome one.
This looks different than mine, will it still fit/function?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Summit-Racin...77efb5&vxp=mtr

If this one wont work,do I have an option for another source?

I sure Love the Focus, but this Cougar should be something else.....

Have you looked at your diff cover yet?

If not, check this pic out:

Then tell me what that cover has, that the Summit cover you link to, is missing.

Let me answer that question with a question -- What kind of rear suspension/axle layout do these cars have?

Gee, it LOOKS like the rear mount.

What kind of suspension does that look like, and how do you think the diff is mounted to the subframe?

Well if the Focus were RWD, how would the diff be located?

Well you really can't see it from underneath anyway. Plus since when is chrome steel better than aluminum?

Perhaps a little searching may be in order?

Besides, buy a spare out of the boneyard, get it cleaned and chromed, and presto, there's your nicer color.

There's a whole other car that's got the same rear cover ... that's got chrome covers available.

Me? I'd opt for black powder coat myself. But that's me, now.

Although, I do have a question. You planning on jacking up the a** end high enough to make it a focal point on the cougar?

I'm not psychiatrist, but there may be a deeper issue here.

Before we discuss your vehicle's future stance... Tell me about your father... lol

Of course it wont be jacked up to where its a focal point of the Car.
But,I will know its there and done and look good.
I mod my cars for me and take great pride in fixing/restoring little details on any of my cars.
So,let me turn the question back around to you,If I am swapping out the gears, why wouldn't I do something to make the cover look better?

You present an excellent point.

I was just worried that we were headed down a road like this:

Hahaha. Now it all makes sense. I'm excited to see what the cougar looks like when she's finished. Those focuses (whats the proper plural? Focusi? Foci?) of yours look great, cant wait to see what you can do with V8, RWD.

In all sincerity, though. Best of luck.

Thanks Man.
It should be sweet when I am done.
And you are correct Foci is the right term.
My 16 year old Son also has a Focus ZX3 5 speed with precision Turbo set up we are building.
I apologize for some of my dumb questions I ask on here, its a way different build for us and constant checking and rechecking of parts on the internet or running out to look under the Cougar to verify what it actually has.
Working on 4 builds can be stressful and I do usually use the search function before asking questions before making a new thread on here but it constantly feels like I am butting heads here or that I am the odd Man out ,like everyone knows secrets about the MN12 cars that I should all ready know about, but don't.
But for the folks offering help and advice,I must say its appreciated and goes a long way with reducing the stress.
Here's a pic of my kids Car,swapping in another motor this coming weekend to handle more boost as stock internals aren't much good past 220 hp on a stock zetec:

After a little bit of research..I see this cover requires a catch can, or expansion tank..

Do you have anything else to add..Why this wouldn't work on an MN12, or FN10?

No rear mount as earlier mentioned and not nearly strong enough to handle the load, on our cars the cover is load bearing. IMO the LPW cover is the best one for the money. I wouldn't put that junk chrome cover on anything anyway in 5 years it'll be rusted out and leaking everywhere.

I was referring to the FORE piece..Not the "junk chrome cover"..

I don't know anything about the fore piece I helped LPW develop the cover they built and still think it's a great piece for the price. I do sell them on occasion but to be honest I make literally nothing on them so I rarely sell any there just isn't anything in it for me except having parts available for our cars which have long been forgotten. I think I have sold 2 of them at a massive $8 in profit before credit card fees consume that.
I was replying to the OP and try not to comment on products I have never seen at all. I will say by a quick google search that product seems to be history the company went out of business and all links I found to purchase it were dead ends.

Rayo..

To me this looks like you are accusing me of supporting the LPW cover because I make money on it, I want to make something very clear. I will not sell a product solely because I can make money on it. If that were the case I would have tons of junk to sell and my product line is very limited actually. I sell what I use on my own vehicles. If I won't use the part on my own car I won't sell it either. I could be building the sonnax 4r70w kits like edge for 2-3 times the profit as what I do build. I refuse to use them and refuse to sell them. Typically I make very little money on selling stuff anyway I make my money on labor, that is what I have done since I got out of tech school and that is the way I think. I do what I do for the love of it only, I am positive I could make better money doing other things. The ability to spend lots of time with my family and do what I love is what keeps me doing what I do. If you think I am getting rich selling parts for $8 in profit by selling not even one of them a year your idea of rich is greatly confused.
