I need exact dimensions of the axle seal for an 8.8 IRS differential.

I ordered an axle seal for an 97 thunderbird v8 from oreillys and they gave me the solid axle one for the 8.8 and obviously it was way too big. Now I've ordered the 7.5 axle seal as from the picture it looks just like the one I need but I'm afraid it's just the axle seal for a 7.5 solid axle. It looks very very close to the 8.8 IRS.. Is it the same axle seal or are they different? The one on rock auto seems to be the same as on oreillys webpage too...

Here's a link to the one I ordered...

Can anyone say for sure they are different or the same?

Platotibs had the same issue a few months back.

The part number on RockAuto is not correct. The ford part number is E9SZ-4B416-A. Width 0.545", Shaft 1.625", bore 2.409", OD 2.415"

Hello

Hello

Try this National oil seal number: 714569

I believe it fits both 7.5 & 8.8 Thunderbird housings.

I have a set at home, Purchased from Advance Auto Parts.
Auto Zone couldn't fit this part.

I'm glad this was brought up. I bought the same seals last week but haven't gotten to that task yet. I looked at them this morning and sure enough they're too big. I'll try the 714569 part.

These are the National 100357 from Advance listed for this application.

Thanks for the help guys. The specs are different. Ordered mine from advanced today. I'm surprised I didn't find more threads like this one. I'll report back Saturday.
