Ford has to put the brakes on F-150 production for a week, and it seems parts suppliers are to blame. The new truck is reportedly selling so well that companies who make parts for the truck are having trouble keeping up with demand.

Engines for the pickups are produced at the Brooks Park facility in Ohio. A slowdown there will cause 3,000 employees at Ford's Dearborn truck plant to take an unplanned week-long vacation.

Analysts are quick to point out that if vehicle sales increase as some are predicting, more shortages could occur in the near future. However, the parts shortage only appears to affect Ford at the moment as General Motors and Chrysler are currently full-steam ahead in their respective production facilities.

I'm really thinking of trading in my F-150 to take out a 5.0 F-150.

Is this a good or bad thing lol. Ford needs to be more optimistic.

I love my V8, but I'd love it more if all 8 cylinders worked. (they do now)

Cool

Back on Oct. 7th., I ordered a 2011 F150, Crew cab, 5.5 short bed, Lariat 4x4. I ordered the 6.2 with the Max tow package, 3.73 posi, plus a few other goodies. I didn't get the truck until Jan. 19th. They initially told me 6-8 weeks for delivery. Right! try 15! The story I kept getting was that Ford was having a "parts" issue. After calling directly to Ford corporate (to find the delay), and doing some internet researching, I discovered, among a few other things, that the main issue was with the computer. But I'm not sure exactly what. But it was more than worth the wait. This thing is a Beast!!

An aside: That's Brookpark for us locals.

Part shortages are all over Ford this year do to the snow and ice storms this winter. I work at Kentucky Truck Plant and we have had several days off due to part shortages.
